First, congrats to Cassie McWilliam, who WON the 40-44 AG in convincing fashion. Carol Wilke unfortunately flatted at mile 4 of the bike but finished well regardless; several other area athletes competed as well (Deb Ragals, Matt Weiss, Pascale Butcher).

Now...anyone see the times? Men's Pro race was won in 3:34; The women's was won by Julie Dibens in 3:59. The men's bike split? 1:59 (after which the winner was able to run a blazing 1:09 half). Matt Weiss, noted above, biked a 2:14 and was the 390th fastest bike!!!

Not to take ANYTHING away from the performances and the level of competition out there, but...the bike times (and cause of the times), IMHO, makes the race a bit ridiculous, though I suppose if you go there with the notion in mind that it is what it is, then it's OK. What's the right thing to do? Somewhere between the hell that was Rev3 and this, I think...Rhode Island is a good example of a course that seems to be fair (not that I've been on THAT many). Our own Toughman course is well thought of.

Any reactions to this?

Saturday ride

I'm sure I can't be the ONLY one looking for a long ride on Saturday...anyone planning to ride 2 hours or more? I'm needing to go 4-5 hours and will suit to fit...if folks are riding from SUNY or anywhere close, please let me know where and when. Thanks!

I have an extra media pass to the NYC Marathon. The media center will be at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel on Columbus Circle. The media center is a great place to watch the race on TV. Lots of HD TVs with different views and fully catered to boot. In addition, you get to sit in on the press conferences with the winners. In the past a media pass also allowed you access to the finish area but as the media center has moved from Tavern on the Green I am not sure that this will be the case this year. Please let me know if you are interested by the end of the day today as I have to turn in a list of names tomorrow morning.
